だがしかし ★ Dagashi Kashi

Recently an anime by the name of Dagashi Kashi has stolen my heart!

The anime centres around a Dagashi store (Cheap candy store)
in a Japanese country side where wacky antics and an obsession for Japanese candy takes place

There is a story, the shows protagonist Kokonatsu, dreams of becoming a Manga artist
Then one day Hotaru shows up, she's the daughter of a famous snack manufacturer
and she has come to recruits Kokonatsu's father to her family company
Yo refuses and says that he will only take the job if Kokonatsu inherits their Dagashi store
and do begins a series in which the eccentric Hotaru does her best to unleash
Kokonatsu's inner love for all things Dagashi!

Hotaru fast became my favourite character, she's strange and she loves snacks
What's not to love? Haha
Whilst she exhibits behaviour that is often strange, throughout the show
she also teaches other characters about the history and origins of Dagashi
Which is definitely one of the reasons why I love this show so much
I am a sucker for trivia and Japanese snacks, so to have them combined
It's pretty much heaven for me ♥

and what better way to celebrate my love of this show than with a haul of Dasaghi!

Jbox too fell in love with the show and made various Dagashi Sampler sets
Featuring a mix of popular snacks as well as those that were featured in the show

Sakura Pepsi

Spring in Japan can only mean one thing... SAKURA ALL THE THINGS
Since many people take part in Hanami (flower viewing picnics/parties)
It's only natural that companies want to get in on the action with limited Sakura goods

This year Pepsi released a pink Sakura soda, which took the internet by storm
Because it just looks so damn "anime" haha
and I myself couldn't resist the chance to try a cute, limited edition product

Though the pink soda itself is cute, I have to agree with Sharla that the packaging is rather cringe
They had beautiful sakura as their muse for design and churned out a strange and dark package
The Sakura itself is like clip art, less detailed than it's dang emoji counterpart
and the font for the logo just kind of screams "Naruto" to me haha
I guess it matches the Pepsi aesthetic, but it had so much more potential!

As for the drink itself, I've heard mixed reactions but mostly positive
People have said it tasted like jelly beans and others candy floss
To me, it tasted lightly of cherries... but also of aniseed balls??

It was kind of medicinal tasting and I contemplated every sip of this bottle
but I still could not place my finger on what it exactly tastes like!
The air of familiarity was so strong, I couldn't shake it off

Over all, it was a good drink, it just left me confused more than anything
I wouldn't say I'm crazy about this, but I sure wouldn't turn down another bottle!
I definitely recommend giving it a try if you have the chance ♪

I've been excited for it's release for a long time, and now it's here
I'm just like "OK" and I don't feel like playing it??? I dunno, so weird

Pocky Midi キャラメルラテ

Since yesterday's post was about a tea flavoured snack
I figured today I would balance that out with something coffee related!

Pocky Midi is my favourite kind of Pocky by far
It makes the original style feel so bland and unbalanced

Pocky Midi is shorter but makes up for it with a chunkier biscuit
and 2 layers of thick flavoured chocolate, one of which is whipped

Each pack contains 12 sticks which are grouped in to smaller packs
I guess this is to encourage portion control, but I can't help myself around these lol

Despite being called "Caramel latte" I somehow forgot about the coffee haha
So it's strong flavour took me by surprise

You definitely get an initial burst of sweet coffee
followed by the smoothness of the caramel (with a slight hint of salt, but in a good way!)
It's flavour is sharp but also sweet and creamy

A delight to eat, pretty much heaven to be honest
I may have just found my new favourite flavour of Pocky EVER
Now that's a big moment haha

I don't know about you but I personally find the chocolate on regular Pocky to be kind of "waxy"
But there's none of that here, the outer chocolate is slightly firmer and the center is whipped
adding some textures and a much nicer sensation when you eat it

Caramel Latte Pocky Midi is available on Jbox for $2
I'd rate this Pocky more than 10/10! It's amazing
If this is sold out everywhere, it's because I bought them all haha

ミルクティーHORN ★ Milk Tea Horn

Despite probably being the only British person who doesn't enjoy tea
When I saw this mix up of a Japanese snack with a British tea flavour, I couldn't resist!

I love the royal blue coloured packaging ♥
and of course each bar is individually wrapped, because Japan

I always have to sniff the things I try and I feel like they resembled caramel
but there was also a presence of tea leaves, you can even see some in the biscuit

The taste was familiar and I can't quite shake it
The flavour is Earl Grey but, I can't say I've drank that tea before
No, they tasted like something else I've eaten but....
I've eaten so much from stuff from Japan, I can't put my finger on it lol

They are a pleasant flavour though, if not slightly bitter, lending itself to it's tea aspect
The biscuit is thin and crunchy, whilst the chocolate is smooth and sweet

There is a strong after taste which can slightly burn your throat
So it's best not to eat too many in one sitting

Over all a nice snack, though I do wonder
Are these to be eaten in place of tea? Or alongside a cup of tea?

Milk Tea Horn is available on Jbox for $2.20
The fact that the packaging says "Seasonal" tells me these are Limited Edition
So do act fast if you wish to try them out!

iPhone Pamyu Pamyu

(●・ω・●) Hello everyone!
Recent I was on the hunt for a very specific phone case
I wanted a flip cover that could hold cards and of course, it had to be cute!

I'd seen a lot of lovely Pokemon cases but they didn't have space for cards
So I found myself on Japanese shopping sites typing in random fandoms and phrases
Then I decided to try "Kyary Pamyu Pamyu"
I figured that would bring some cute results, and I wasn't disappointed!

Turns out that the Kyary attraction at Universal Studio Japan has a bunch of merch too!
I was instantly lured in by it's ridiculous print and bright colours

Everything on this case looks straight out of a Kyary music video
I wouldn't be surprised if they have lurked in the backgrounds!
My favourite might have to be that fabulous lipstick, check out them eyelashes

The case itself feels really protective
However the part which holds the phone in place is just glued in
So I'm a little worried that this could fall out if handled too often

Luckily I don't plan on using this case everyday, which sounds rather silly
But I wanted a case like this purely for travelling!
Having the card slots means I can pop my Oyster card in there for easy access in London
and I guess my Suica, should I ever get the chance to return to Japan

On the back is also a Universal Studio Japan logo ♥

So, mission complete!!
I not only got a case that functions how I wanted it to
But it's also super cute and unique too, just how I like it (≧ε≦○)chu♪
